January has been a slow month for new releases, but in recent years, publishers and developers have taken advantage of this quiet break in the game calendar to release some huge titles. This year is no different, and while the next month isn’t full of new releases, it does have its fair share of high-profile titles coming to PC and console.
The month’s biggest releases are a triple whammy of genres and ideas that come at your leisure. Square Enix’s Forspoken looks like a great action RPG where you use fast magical powers. The Dead Space remake is always reminiscent of cutting off the limbs of necromorphs. And Nintendo’s Fire Emblem Engage is shaping up to be a weaker and worse chapter in the long-running tactical RPG series.
Anime fans also have a lot to look forward to in a new One Piece adventure, and the release of two versions of Persona will keep them busy for dozens of hours. The upcoming Persona games, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, have some great additions to bring it up to modern standards, while One Piece Odyssey looks like a lively RPG where you use rubber punches, sword punches and kicks. can be thrown into the fire. .
THQ Nordic’s SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake might be just what you’re looking for for someone looking for something silly to play or even share with their family. With silly, colorful SpongeBob fun, plus an original voice cast, this will be a true trip to Bikini Town.
